The 15th chapter in Echo Beach’s long-running investigation into dub and all its many 21st century forms, King Size Dub: Chapter 15 starts out right, with two legends of the form: Rob Smith, half of Bristol crew Smith & Mighty and a dub producer on his own as RSD; and On-U Sound head Adrian Sherwood, who’s been producing epic music since the dawn of the ‘80s. (Rob Smith's inclusion actually goes back just as far, spinning the Ruts D.C. 1982 classic “Rhythm Collision” several decades into the future.) From there, the album passes many of the usual guideposts for an Echo Beach release, including work from Germans and/or Austrians (Dubblestandart, Umberto Echo, Jamaram, Al Jawala). Two interesting exceptions: a 2011 track from Tackhead and one from Up, Bustle & Out.
