AllMusic Review by

Equally influenced by funk, jazz, punk, hip-hop, and Saturday morning cartoons, King Cobb Steelie's self-titled debut is jagged, mesmerizing, silly, and beautiful all at the same time. Ideas ricochet off one other as readily as the different styles of music that cohabit the grooves of the album. It's anyone's guess what the song titles have to do with the tracks they represent, but at least they're amusing. The "all-over-the-map" nature of this album would be refined on the follow-up, Project Twinkle, but King Cobb Steelie showed the band at it's most eclectic and manic.
