Keltik Elektrik, Vol. 2 doesn't list its artist credits specifically, so despite including names like Simon Thoumire, Mike Katz, and Tony McManus on its front cover, it can be difficult to tell just who's doing what. "Old Pipe Reel" is just a pop/rock drum machine behind some burbling bagpipes, but "Fair Maid of Takla Makan" fairs far better, with its pipes echoing off the clatter from a chattering drum program suggestive of Everything but the Girl. Keltik Elektrik makes no attempt to unite its pieces together thematically or stylistically, and that name has to go. But it's still a mildly entertaining mix of traditional Scottish instrumentation and some fairly tame electronica. Aficionados of either camp won't be wowed. But it's decent enough for the casual listening crowd looking for some extra spice.
