The debut, four-track EP from England's the Space Monkeys is a dynamic, colorful blend of songs and textures that strongly hint at what is to come on the band's debut LP. Taking cues equally from Oasis and the Happy Mondays, the Space Monkeys create a mix of sturdy, fresh beats and dynamic guitar work, and their hooks are strong enough to support the music. The first two tracks are especially of note; the opening title track is a chunk of aggressive disco rock and is paired against the gentle Beatles-esque pop of "Sitting on a Cloud." The EP rounds itself out with the high-octane "Cream Judge and the Clown" and a remix of the title track, retitled "Trippin' On." For a debut EP, Keep On Tripping On contains surprisingly strong song writing and tunefulness, as the Space Monkeys seem to have mastered mixing both rock and techno into one fun and exciting mix.
