Arnett Cobb, at 66, still had plenty of energy as he demonstrates on this Bee Hive LP. The thick-toned tenor (who is joined by pianist Junior Mance, bassist George Duvivier and drummer Panama Francis) sounds warm on "Stardust," reverent on a brief "Deep River" (which is a duet with Duvivier) and quite spirited on "Cheatin' on Me" and his "Blues for Lisette." Trumpeter Joe Newman and trombonist Al Grey join Cobb to swing their way through a blues ("Keep on Pushin'") and "Indiana." This is an excellent mainstream set that deserves to be reissued on CD.
