AllMusic Review by

With this self-titled debut, Los Angeles-based Katt Lowe and the Othersyde unveiled a distinctly feminine alternative pop/rock voice. All at once defiant, honest, and sensual, these 13 tracks of mostly over-the-top, infectiously riff-happy songs are a welcome throwback to power rock rebel-girl icons in the mold of Suzi Quatro, Patty Smyth, Lita Ford, and Joan Jett. In fact, former Runaways lead vocalist Cherie Currie not only produced Lowe's release, Currie also co-wrote a few tracks, played keyboards, and provided supporting vocals. The result is an all-out nostalgic trip of gritty guitars, languid pop hooks, and gutsy songs about female resolve. This is most apparent on "You Can Have Me," "Get Together Soon," and "Make It Go Away." Lowe shows off her soft side on the mellow "Please Don't Lose Yourself," but shines best when she's being a brash rock & roll chick. The only thing missing from this picture is the tell-tale big hair. But then again, that's what makes Katt Lowe a modern woman.
