This disc and its Part Two companion were issued to support what should have been a huge hit for the band. Unfortunately, "Kate" was never released as a single to the media, and the song just faded away. Certainly one of the feel-good songs from Whatever and Ever Amen, "Kate" is a lovely piano romp. "Bad Idea" was used in the movie The Truth Abouth Cats and Dogs for a frantic cleaning scene, and "frantic" is definitely a good way to describe the fast-paced, driving song. Some fans have described the band as being half comedy and half great music, and "For All the Pretty People" gives a little look at both. The song itself is a charming instrumental piece written by bassist Robert Sledge. Before the song begins though, the listener is privy to the dynamics involved in getting other band members to get serious and quit messing around. Funny stuff.
