The Boo Radleys followed their disowned Ichabod and I LP nearly a year later with Kaleidoscope, recorded with A.R. Kane's Rudi Tambala at H. Ark. There's a trace of A.R. Kane's oceanic acoustic/electric guitar wash in "Aldous," which Martin Carr would practically adapt and alter into a trademark of his band's sound, up through 1993's sprawling Giant Steps. The closing track "Swansong" is the highlight of the EP, featuring hallucinatory percussion and layers of drifting guitars. This was an excellent new beginning.
