Just Petula Review

by AllMusic

Not to be confused with 1969's JUST PET, 1975's JUST PETULA is a UK-only album, much of which was released in the US on the MGM Records release PETULA CLARK NOW. The songs are in the easy listening style Clark maintained throughout the '70s, with lush orchestrations in the style of Michel Legrand, whose influence is particularly notable on the continental "C'est Ca, Ma Chanson," and the standard "The Wedding Song (There is Love)."

Pop covers like "Baby, I'm Yours" and "My Guy" are considerably peppier, and the goofy "It's a Musical World" is downright bouncy. As always, Clark is in fine voice throughout. Neither as pop-oriented as her '60s Tony Hatch days, nor as sophisticated as the cabaret-style material she would develop in the '80s and '90s, JUST PETULA is for people who find easy listening genuinely easy to listen to.
