AllMusic Review by

This LP is a bit of a hodgepodge. Several swing bands (including those led by Benny Meroff, Ina Ray Hutton and Happy Felton) are heard live from the Earle Theater in Philadelphia during 1937. In addition, violinist Joe Venuti's big band with singer Kay Starr performs four songs from the Hotel Peabody in Memphis during 1942. Also on this album are two of the Venuti Orchestra's only studio recordings ("Flip" and "Flop") and a couple of legendary but often gross comedy numbers recorded by Venuti in 1933 ("Non Skid Manure" and "Onyx Club Revue"). This release is only for selected tastes.
