Jukebox Hits of 1957, Vol. 1 is a well-chosen and diverse 27-song collection that does a good job of bringing 1957 to life. The songs here come from rock & rollers like Fats Domino ("I'm Walkin'"), rockabilly cats like Eddie Cochran ("Sittin' in the Balcony"), R&B howlers like Roy Brown ("Let the Four Winds Blow"), doo wop groups like the Diamonds ("Silhouettes") and the Del-Vikings ("Come Go With Me") and even a few country crooners like Marvin Rainwater ("Gonna Find Me a Bluebird"). Most of the songs are mainstream pop from artists like Pat Boone, Paul Anka, Jane Morgan, and Russ Hamilton, however, which may limit the disc's appeal to fans of rock & roll. This is a nice collection for nostalgia buffs who like their music to go down smoothly.
