"Joy Pt. II" prominently features a gospel choir-type "ooohhhhh" sample that sounds just as uplifting as the accompanied synth notes. Kenny Dixon, Jr.'s integration of a piano and guitar during the song's bridges helps keep the momentum flowing, as does the inclusion of crowd chatter. On the flip side of this record, "Sunday Morning" builds slowly from the quiet sounds of chirping birds and Bell's doo wops for several calm minutes before Dixon brings the funk. The final song, "Answering Machine," uses mostly sampled crowd noise and a stomping percussive beat to shape itself, resulting in a minimal song that ends after a few minutes. The highlights of this album -- the uplifting motifs of "Joy Pt. II," the anticipation of "Sunday Morning," and the stomping beats of "Answering Machine" -- make this EP yet another excellent release by Dixon during one of his more prolific periods.
