During the initial release of Journey to the Fore, Peace of Mind's Nu Groove labelmates Down to the Bone (From Manhattan to Staten) received the most attention. If your tastes in smooth jazz are more in the mode of Four80East's The Album, then this collection will more than satisfy. The set kicks off with the slip-sliding funk of "Free Fall." The popular radio-aired mid-tempo groover "Love Forever," with vocals by Judy LaRose, sounds a lot like Paul Hardcastle. Standouts are "Peace of Mind," the aptly titled "On the Sly," "The Things We Do," and "Strollin." For those who like their smooth jazz on a more straight-ahead funky vibe,Journey to the Fore fits the bill.
