Jettingham's major-label debut is an enjoyable romp of post-punk pop with smart guitars, catchy melodies, and a heart-pounding backbeat. The songwriting duo of guitarist Gabe Berry and singer Dave Schmockel is adept at placing simple hooks in all the right spots. "Cheating," which appears on the American Pie 2 soundtrack, and "Never, Never, Never" are just two examples of how to quell the age-old dilemma of teenage angst and sexual frustration via healing powers of singalong choruses and fist-pumping riffs that recall a young Eddie Van Halen. The reggae groove that kicks in on the second verse of "Enjoy" and the folksy intro to "Tattoo This Song" are among the many twists and turns that make this collection an engaging listen from start to finish. Jettingham is ready for prime time.
