AllMusic Review by

Denmark trombonist Papa Bue Jensen formed his Papa Bue's Viking Jazz Band in 1956 and has been turning out lively approximations of New Orleans-styled Dixieland jazz ever since, often on the Storyville Records imprint. This 33-track set (most of the tracks are extremely brief, often under two minutes in length) was recorded at Rosenberg Studio in Copenhagen in 1977 and includes featured banjoist and singer Bjarne "Liller" Petersen. Jensen's Viking ensemble isn't particularly innovative, but the energy and joy they put into these sides, most of which are tried and true standards like "St. Louis Blues," "Basin Street Blues," "Down by the Riverside" and "Frankie and Johnny," make this an extremely infectious outing.
