AllMusic Review by

The second of twelve LPs documenting Bechet's quintet during an extended stay in Boston, this one contains a rehearsal by the band and their performance on radio later the same night. Bechet had looked forward to having Bunk Johnson in his band but the veteran trumpeter was frequently drunk, disliked Bechet's dominant soprano playing (getting him to switch to clarinet on some songs) and had become rather erratic. The rehearsal is tense but very interesting, while the nighttime performance shows that the group was doomed.
