AllMusic Review by

With Peter Bocage's decision to return to New Orleans after a short period with Sidney Bechet's quintet, the trumpet chair went immediately back to 18-year-old Johnny Windhurst, who had filled in very well after Bunk Johnson left the band. In fact, a large reason that the final three LPs in this 12-volume series are recommended (if they can be found) is the interplay between Windhurst (who would not record commercially for two more years) and the great soprano of Bechet. Fine traditional jazz, taken from two radio broadcasts.
