AllMusic Review by

This LP from MCA's Jazz Heritage series of the early '80s gives listeners a sampling of Cab Calloway's early recordings. Sixteen of his best performances from 1930-1931 are here, including "St. Louis Blues," "Nobody's Sweetheart," a classic version of "St. James Infirmary," "Bugle Call Rag," "Kickin' the Gong Around," "Trickeration" and the original recording of "Minnie the Moocher." This is a fine set of early material.
