Javier García scored two moderate hit singles with his self-titled debut, released by Fonovisa in 1997: "Tranquila" and "A Casa." It would be eight years before he'd return with his second album, the outstanding 13, released by Universal in 2005. If you're coming to this album as a result of that one, you might be disappointed. While García is a talented young man who turns in a good set of tunes here on his debut, he's still a near-decade away from the tropical melting pot genius of 13. Best to just check this one out; it's perhaps most interesting to measure just how far García went from Javier Garcia to 13. In any event, his talent is apparent here, just not to the extent that it would be when he returned in 2005.
