After three successful albums that were released in Finland, Janita brings her soulful sounds to the U.S. with her self-titled American debut. Consisting of eleven brand new tracks, the album is deep-rooted in classic soul. In Finland, Janita listened to soul music exclusively, influenced by "people like Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder." Upon her arrival in New York, she was determined to follow in those august footsteps.
The lead single, "Getting Over," is a mid-tempo head-nodder that talks about mending the soul after a heart-rending breakup. Janita's songs have a recurring them of relationships and personal growth. Other songs to check out are "Somebody Like You," "Thank The Heavens," "Who Do You Love" and "I Just Wanna Be Happy." This album makes it clear that Janita has made a home for herself in the American musical tradition.
