Jamaica's First Lady of Song Review

by Andrew Hamilton

Being Alton Ellis' sister has it perks, but Marcia Griffiths probably had a problem with this LP's title, since many considered her Jamaica's main diva. Tommy Cook (uncredited) assists vocally on some cuts, which is a plus, but overall the set is mundane when compared to what was happening in the States. It features remakes of "Loving Arms" and "I Don't Want to Cry," as well as the more traditional offerings like "Anniversary."
