The sweetly mellow vocals and coolly soulful phrasing of lead singer Billy Wilmont color the entire sound of the Mystic Revealers, making for an album that's bubbling with conscious lyrics and soothing riddims. Jah Works serves as a high quality example of the often overlooked music of this group, which is made up of a septet of highly skilled musicians. That skill is apparent from the strong opening track, "Borderline," which incorporates all the elements of a good reggae tune: lyrical depth, a catchy riddim, and heartfelt delivery. All of the other songs on Jah Works boast this formula as well, from the silky melody of "Lonely," to the brutally vivid portrayal of ghetto life on "Children Crying." This is a strong offering and well-chosen addition to any reggae fan's collection .
