AllMusic Review by

The famed trombonist and singer Jack Teagarden is heard here on a variety of early 1930s sides, a series of remarkable displays of a prodigious musical technique that, combined with a deceptively laid-back vocal style, made him one of the most respected jazz musicians of his generation. Accompanied by such jazz legends as Fats Waller and Billie Holiday, Teagarden's relaxed performances on these straight-ahead jazz tunes encompass the guitar and violin-accompanied "Beale Street Blues," the spirited, jokey "Christmas Night in Harlem," and the elegantly performed "Moonglow."
