During 1999, Capitol Records began reissuing original albums from the Philadelphia International vaults as their Double Shot series. Each individual entry in the Double Shot series contained two original albums, each on a separate CD, and was available at a budget price. Usually, the albums selected for Double Shot treatment didn't represent the artist at their best. Instead, they were flawed but intriguing albums that would be of interest to hardcore collectors. That's not really the case with Teddy Pendergrass' It's Time for Love/This One's for You. This release boasts one solid album (It's Time for Love) and one middling affair (This One's for You). As such, it may be of more interest to the average fan than most Double Shots, but it is still designed more for hardcore followers.
