Vocalist/pianist Diana Krall's poignant take on the standard "You'll Never Know" sets the stage for the reflective soundtrack to the Michael Douglas family vehicle It Runs in the Family. Centered around the themes of familial love, regret, loss, and forgiveness, the album is a low-key affair featuring many legendary mainstream vocalists, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Bobby Darin. Balancing out the jazz standard aesthetic of the album are original orchestral themes by Paul Grabowsky performed by the Victorian Philharmonic Orchestra as well as equally mellow world music tracks. Particularly impressive are Brazilian vocalist/guitarist Badi Assad's atmospheric "Waves" and African vocalist Gigi's "Abet Wubet."
