With a name like Hank & the Hankstirs, it would almost be understood that either someone in the band would be named Hank or the band would sound like an homage to a famous Hank (Hank Williams? Hank Rollins? Hank Aaron?). Oddly enough, the Hankstirs are led by James D'Andrea and sound nothing like any of the aforementioned Hanks (except maybe Hank Aaron, whose records are yet to be heard). What you do get is an album of well-executed acoustic rock songs, performed either by D'Andrea or his bandmate Joel Underwood, all of which would work well at a coffeehouse open-stage night or for sitting and listening to on a contemplative afternoon.
