Ishtar is new music that delves into the future while calling forth mystical potency from an ancient past. Pascal combines the energies of outward expression and inward introspection simultaneously. His keyboard playing exposes exotic realms of subtle emotion and jubilant, rhythmic touches that convey the brilliance of the full moon and richness of ivory. Voices enter twice, on "Passage" and "The Realm of Enki," sung hauntingly by Daniéle Vince. Additional keyboards and percussion are heard from Phillippe Attié who co-produced and arranged "Voyager." With a powerful bottom and solid rhythms, Pascal uses drama, emotion and a flair for the unusual in his melodic development. Sounding at times like Mychael Danna, Patrick O'Hearn or Mark Dwane, Pascal ventures into every facet of today's spacemusic, drawing on experience and innovation while producing sound that is unequivocally modern.
