Victor Manuelle, now seasoned and more confident, has turned in (with the help of salsa creative whiz José Manuel Lugo) one of his most accomplished and well-rounded productions. Lugo and Manuelle drift away somewhat from the already familiar Sergio George sound, favoring a more traditional, old-timer feel, but maintaining the aggressiveness that fits the latter's vocalizing and improvisational skills. Veteran arranging star Bobby Valentín put his formidable dexterity in charts like "Lejos" (that is Valentín announcing and counting off the tune, by the way), a whirlpool of fire and ice, done in customary fashion; "Cómo Se Lo Explico al Corazón" and "Te Voy a Encontrar" are notable samples of Lugo's punchy stamp; the title tune is available in both salsa and pop versions, the latter a maiden attempt to explore on a rockish pop beat. Highly enjoyable, and one of the top Puerto Rico-based salsa albums of 2001.
