Gil Goldstein (on piano and accordion) is teamed with guitarist Romero Lubambo, Toninho Horta (on second guitar and vocals), percussionist Armando Marcal and singer Maucha Adnet for a set of soothing and romantic Brazilian music. However, these performances never become merely background music for the high musicianship of both Goldstein and Lubambo allow them to stretch the material beyond the usual parameters with some very expressive improvisations. The long tone singing of Adnet on four numbers adds to the appealing atmosphere. This is Brazilian-oriented jazz rather than pop music and the constant creativity within these romantic melodies makes this a highly enjoyable release.
