The song titles are a bit whimsical and sometimes this free-form music is witty. Consisting of four lengthy sound explorations, In the Tank succeeds because the musicians, no matter how outside their playing becomes, always listen to and react to each other. There are many eccentric moments throughout the disc and all four players are in the lead both at various times and simultaneously. The result is a colorful, occasionally humorous, often odd, and never dull set of free improvisations.
