Given that they were produced on a budget and designed as nothing more than samplers, it's unreasonable to expecte budget-line compilations to be definitive. Still, they should be a little better than Sony Music Special Products' Psychedelic Furs offering In the Pink, which doesn't even include "Pretty in Pink," the song the compilers allude to in the title. That's not the only single missing -- every single outside of "Love My Way" is absent, with album tracks taking their place. Some of these cuts are quite good, but they don't sound right when separated from their original albums. Furthermore, they'll confound and disappoint budget-minded casual fans -- who are inarguably this collection's target audience -- who just want the hits. Consequently, the disc is nothing more than a directionless jumble that isn't useful either to collectors or casual fans.
