In the Mood With: Best of the Big Band Era 1939 lives up to its name, with a fine selection of notable artists and tunes of the era. The popularity of big band swing in the '30s makes any one-disc collection inadequate, but as a time capsule of a busy year in jazz, this captures 1939 quite well. Highlights include Charlie Barnett's wildly popular recording of "Cherokee," Artie Shaw with "They Say," and one of the signature songs of swing, "In the Mood" by Glenn Miller.
