Pianist Ramsey Lewis achieved remarkable commercial success in the 1960s with his combinations of traditional jazz material and pop elements. IN PERSON VOLUME TWO: 1965-67 follows Lewis and his trio through their extensive touring during the mid to late ‘60s, when the group’s work was particularly inspired by soul jazz, boogaloo, bossa nova, and pop/rock fare. Still, Lewis’s classical training and bop chops underscore everything he does with serious musicianship.
