AllMusic Review by

Along with well-known DJ hedonist Derrick Carter and Cajmere, Paul Johnson is one of the great sexual predators to come out of Chicago's second wave of house music. This mix CD opens with an acapella version of Johnson's "So Much", layered over the sexy sophistication of E-Smooves tropical disco cut "Be With You". After six full minutes of hearing Johnson's deep baritone ask his girl about her moist undergarments, all but the most prudish listener is gonna be in the mode to let it all hang out. The hot and bothered vibe continues throughout the rest of the mix, a bass heavy affair that never looses is fat and loose feel. With song titles like "Slave To the Rhythm", "Burnin' For Your Yearnin' and "From Russia With Phunk", its easy to imagine the sweaty filtered-disco grooves Johnson is dropping all over the place. And he drops them like a master, slipping little spinbacks and pitch drops into the mix, just enough to remind the listener that there is an actual person seamlessly blending all of these cuts. Johnson includes three more of his own tracks, but admirably leave off his mega-hit Get, Get Down", most likely because it just wouldn't have fit into the continual thumpin' and humpin'.
