This sophomore album from the Paris-based, Altlanta-bred Beat Assailant is the product of a week-long "lock out" session where the Beat Assailant crew holed up in the studio to play everything live, in one take. The result captures the raw energy of the group's live performances. With Imperial Pressure, Beat Assailant continues to push the boundaries of hip-hop by combining jazz, funk, soul, rock, and electro with traditional urban rhythms. The first single, "Better Than Us" includes a special guest appearance on vocals by José Reis Fontao, lead singer of Stuck in the Sound.
