I'm Only Looking: The Best of INXS is a fantastic two-disc DVD archive of INXS videos, performances, and interviews. Released in 2004, nearly seven years after the death of Michael Hutchence, the set brings the original band back to gorgeous life, if only on one's TV screen. The menu systems set the tone immediately with a PDA-like device used for navigation. The sense one gets from the user interface is that I'm Only Looking won't be a sad memorial but instead a fun, nostalgic time warp. And that's exactly what this is. Disc one holds 25 videos, racking up all the classics from most of the band's stellar albums, including Shabooh Shoobah, The Swing, Listen Like Thieves, and Kick. Word on the street is that the discs are loaded with Easter eggs, where one can unlock the videos not listed in the packaging. If this is true, they are unfortunately hidden too well. But even if a viewer can't locate the Easter eggs, 25 videos will satisfy most viewers. The band commentaries that link the videos can be easily skipped, but they're worth a laugh and somewhat enlightening. Disc two is more about the live experience; the wealth of archived live performances places the fan right at the center of the INXS world. The disc also contains loads of interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, some shelved videos, a few remixed songs, and a photo gallery. For any fan who swooned at the sexy style and grand hooks of INXS, this DVD set is essential. Casual fans who only know the band through a couple of songs might find surprising depth in a band they probably shouldn't have ignored.
