Icon Review

by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Universal's 2013 budget-line compilation Icon rounds up 11 of Huey Lewis & The News' greatest hits. All the heavy-hitters are here—"I Want a New Drug," "The Heart of Rock & Roll," "The Power of Love," "Do You Believe In Love," "If This Is It," "Heart and Soul," "Stuck with You," "Workin' for a Livin'," "Hip to Be Square," the Back to the Future-exclusive "Back In Time"—which means the handful of minor hits that are missing aren't missed that much (they include "Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do," "Walking on a Thin Line," "Jacob's Ladder," "I Know What I Like," "Doing it All for My Baby"). Those songs are available on more exhaustive compilations but listeners looking for the basics will be satisfied with this.
