AllMusic Review by

I NEVER EVEN ASKED FOR LIGHT was the second album by Lullaby for the Working Class, a sort of mini-supergroup of the Omaha scene led by Ted Stevens (Mayday, Cursive) and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes). Pitched between alt-country and lush chamber pop similar to late-period Talk Talk, these 13 tracks are ornately detailed without sounding overworked or crowded, with passages balancing angst and tender beauty.
