AllMusic Review by

I Love Country: Hits of the '70s is an excellent mid-line collection that contains 20 hits. Although the packaging is a little skimpy, all of the recordings are the original hit versions, which makes the compilation an excellent choice for casual listeners and the budget-minded. Among the highlights on Hits of the '70s are Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy," Crystal Gayle's "Talking in Your Sleep," Loretta Lynn's "Coal Miner's Daughter," Merle Haggard's "The Fightin' Side of Me," Barbara Mandrell's "Sleeping Single in a Double Bed," Emmylou Harris' "Sweet Dreams," Sonny James' "Empty Arms," Mickey Gilley's "Room Full of Roses," Eddie Rabbitt's "Every Which Way but Loose," Conway Twitty's "Hello Darlin'," Bobby Goldsboro's "Watching Scotty Grow" and Donna Fargo's "Funny Face."
