AllMusic Review by

Rhino's I Got You Babe is a short collection of Sonny & Cher's mid-'60s work for Atco and Atlantic. It includes their two biggest hits, 1965's number one "I Got You Babe" and 1967's number six "The Beat Goes On," a smattering of decent-sized hits ("Just You," "But You're Mine," "Have I Stayed Too Long," and "What Now My Love"), a take on the evergreen "Let It Be Me," a silly but funny pseudo-French ballad ("Sing C'Est la Vie"), and two solo Sonny tracks ("Laugh at Me" and "The Revolution Kind"). Overall the collection is not a very complete look at the duo and its unique style, but there are enough tracks here to satisfy the most casual of fans. Anyone looking for deeper examination of their work should turn to Rhino's The Beat Goes On: The Best of Sonny & Cher.
