After a hiatus from recording, Baxendale returned no thanks in small part to the radar-fine ears of Kompakt's A&R department. This EP features "I Built This City," a surreal ode from a lover to his loved one, and how they built an entire city just for their approval. The original mix and Justus Köhncke's are dancefloor-friendly, but it's Michael Mayer's dark and stormy mix that is the real gem of the pack. A low-key affair that endlessly builds up, the vocals read well enough, like a page from Underworld's finest moments, but the climatic explosion turns the vocals into a Neptunes/Justin Timberlake party gone all sorts of wrong. Guaranteed dancefloor-friendly and one of the most intriguing moments of the entire Kompakt catalog.
