HBO’s Hung follows the adventures of a high school basketball coach who turns to male prostitution to solve his current financial woes, and season one’s soundtrack has a lot of fun with the premise, offering up 13 tracks that range from winking and ironic (“Love My Way” by the Psychedelic Furs) to blatantly sophomoric (“My Dick,” by Mickey Avalon). HBO has a pretty good track record with music placement within its programming, and Hung is no exception, providing a solid blend of hipster heroes (Devendra Banhart), industry legends (Loretta Lynn), and stalwart singer/songwriters (Grant Lee Phillips).
