The second of two LPs released by the British label World in the late '70s continues reissuing some of the best jazz recordings cut in England during the mid-to-late '30s. This generous album has 20 selections (an hour of music) and features such strong soloists as Freddy Gardner (on clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone), trumpeter Duncan Whyte, trombonist George Chisholm and violinist Eric Siday among others. This rare music (primarily Dixieland and swing standards) is consistently enjoyable and full of surprises including a version of "Tiger Rag" featuring the violins of Eric Siday and Reg Leopold. Both of the valuable Homemade Jam sets are highly recommended to collectors of '30s jazz.
