Violinist Stephane Grappelli has recorded many Django Reinhardt tributes during the past few decades. This double LP, which includes many originals co-written by Reinhardt and Grappelli in addition to a few 1930s standards, is one of his best. With the assistance of either Alan Clare or Marc Hemmeler on keyboards, guitarist Ernie Cranenburgh, bassist Lennie Bush and drummer Chris Karan, Grappelli is in top form on such rarely played numbers as "Tears," "Clopin-Clopant," "Are You in the Mood," "Sweet Chorus" and "Fantaisie." This classic music deserves to be reissued on CD.
