Holy War Review

by James Christopher Monger

The much anticipated follow-up to the Aussie deathcore outfit's 2012 sophomore outing Hate, 2015's Holy War is Thy Art Is Murder's first studio long-player to be released via Nuclear Blast. Produced by Will Putney (the Acacia Strain, Suicide Silence, For Today, the Amity Affliction), Holy War eschews many of the more fantasy-driven elements of prior offerings in favor of a more global issue-minded approach. Punishing and relentless in the vein of groups like Behemoth and Converge, the band describes the album as "our war on racism, homophobia, child abuse, animal cruelty, and all evil born of religious immunity, indoctrination, and ignorance."
