A collection of Christmas (and Boxing Day, mind you) songs as performed by a number of new age, Latin-inspired, and nuevo flamenco guitarists for the Sharper Image crowd. The guitarists are all firmly in the realm of the virtuoso, so there's little to nothing to complain about on that end. If there were to be any complaint, it would be with the liberties taken by the artists on the various seasonal classics. Latin infusions are common, as are seemingly out-of-place runs and arpeggios. On the same note, the classics can become pointlessly stuffy and tiresome with enough of the usual formats, and these artists provide another take on the same clump of songs provided on every other Christmas album. Worth a listen as a contemporary take on the classics.
