This single CD contains 21 of the 34 selections included on The Complete Fletcher Henderson 1927-1936, mostly the hotter numbers, although one regrets the omissions. Highpoints include "St. Louis Shuffle," "Variety Stomp," "Sugar Foot Stomp," the swinging title cut, examples of early Roy Eldridge trumpet and "Strangers" which contrasts a horrendous vocal with some inspired Coleman Hawkins tenor.
