Hob is the latest from Egyptian pop star Tamer Hosny who, from the sound and look of his album, is the Middle Eastern equivalent of Justin Timberlake. It's Middle Eastern pop, but other than being driven by traditional melodies, it's hard to distinguish from Western pop. The production is slick and the whole affair is driven by studio-sculpted house and trance techno beats given some regional bump by the addition of frame drums. The songs alternate between upbeat dance numbers like "Arrab Habibi" and love ballads like the title track and "Lissah Bahebbak."
