"History" finds the Verve coming down from the stars and developing a less produced sound. Similar to "On Your Own," it recreates the mutitextured swirl of the band, but uses acoustic guitars, strings, and piano instead of spaced-out guitar and hypnotic basslines to achieve it. "Grey Skies" is old-school Verve, full of drowsy guitar, thick bass, and a smooth backbeat, but all in under five minutes. "Life's Not a Rehearsal" is another version of A Northern Soul's "Life's an Ocean" with a different vocal track and some excellent wah-wah guitar.
