Third time proves lucky for Toronto's Andrew Cash. Neither the naive, golly-geez pop of his self-titled debut or the stylish, over-worked music and hairstyle of sophomore release Boomtown sat very comfortably on the singer/songwriter/rocker's shoulders. The social commitment of Cash's lyrics remained true, but the music environment felt artificial and imposed. With the backing of a permanent band that shares a common organic aesthetic, Hi projects Cash light-years forward while remaining true to the energy and spirit of L'Etranger, the crucial alternative band that he fronted in the early '80s.
